No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started competing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
