Poker is an acclaimed game that has a following of millions of active participants around the globe. The game involves gamblers looking at their own hands before making a wild guess as to what cards the other players have in their hands. The different versions of poker games are Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, Omaha Poker, the Hi/Lo version, Five Card Stud, and Five Card Draw. The term ‘aces up’ applies to a pair of aces and another pair. ‘Active player’ normally refers to a player who is still completely involved in a hand. ‘All blue and all Pink’ means that a player holds a hand of 5 cards that are all spades, clubs, diamonds, or hearts. ‘Blank card’ references a card that has little or no importance in the hand. The term, ‘deal’ refers to the action of giving out cards to gamblers or keeping the cards on the boards. It applies to the entire activity from shuffling to giving out the cards and up to when the chips has been won, thereby ending that deal.

Other well-known words used in the game of poker include but not limited to discard, drawing dead, flop, Fourth Street, kicker, lock up, loose game, and muck. It’s critical to refer to an accurate catalogue of poker words when learning to play the game.
