Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to make it to the last poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest gamblers around the world. While gambling on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often competes in the 200/400 NL max buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I believe Hansen is a great poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is bankrupt, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I think tv can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be found playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money games?
