No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
