No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
