NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Howard Lederer?

Howard Lederer was born into in a family of 5 where he loved participating in different card games when he was young. He found himself getting really aggressive in these card games while competing against his father. After finishing high school, Howard made a decision to place college on hold for a little bit and moved to New York to participate in some formidable chess. While playing chess, he was introduced to a poker game going on in the rear of the room. Howard’s initial 2 years were rough as he would play many hours and lost a majority of the time. He earned some additional cash by becoming an assistant for the poker enthusiasts. He believed he might better his game by analyzing his life away from poker. He brought about an attempt to acquire more sleep and focus attention more on the game.

The definite improvement in his skills happened when he started gambling at the Mayfair Club in New York City. The Mayfair was a bridge and backgammon club where the greatest players would regularly challenge one another. He had access into several of the best minds in chess. With their help, Howard would hone his cunning thinking techniques. He used these strategic ideas in the game of NL texas hold’em.

Howard also assisted his sibling Annie Duke learn the game of poker. She was an excellent student of the game as she would always be asking questions about the right way to make the correct decision. Howard told Annie Duke to move out to Las Vegas and compete in the World Series of Poker tournaments. She is one of the greatest female players the poker arena ever. He headed to Vegas in 1993 and played cash games for the next decade. When the WPT grew in popularity, Howard made the decision to participate in more tournaments.
