Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While betting on internet poker, another side of Hansen has appeared. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen frequently buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Gus is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I believe television can skew our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found betting on online poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha high and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
