Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Mrs. Duke mightn’t have won her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she remains one of the most feared poker competitors around the live action games at The Bellagio in sin city. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker go crazy following a huge win at the tables, Annie goes back home to be "mom" to her 4 kids. She was born in New Hampshire and raised into a family of card players. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who educated her how to play the game.

However, Mrs. Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has succeeded at her cut of difficult tables, which includes eliminating Howard along the way on a couple of occasions. They are both competitors that have the ability to capture the large bucks and do so with a smile.

Annie Duke is a tough player at any poker table considering that she is a real poker player, but it’s a little more than simply being skilled at the game. Mrs. Duke is extremely smart and graduated from Columbia U where she majored in Psychology and English.

When you are seated across from her at the table you will see Annie Duke is there to compete in the game and she starts "summing" you up as soon as you join the game table. If you cannot play like a winner, then do not waste your time.

Acquiring over $3 million in tournament play, Mrs. Duke became a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to enhance his skills and grow into a power at the tables.

You may catch a glimpse of her at the Bellagio, you will see Annie on television and you might even participate against her in a web poker match, but do not count on a simple win. Except of course you are a camp-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. However, it’d be fun to mention you played at the same table as "The Duke".
