Terrible Fortune in Poker

For a game where most participants occasionally consider good luck, there are tons of superstitions in poker. When you say that a player was lucky in that poker tournament they won, be careful of how you say it. For instance, if you say that you were unfortunate, your luck may never change.

Ok, that may appear to be a bit strange, but poker is a game armed with superstitions. Did you realize that if you are gambling a game with 2 seperate decks and you are asked to pick the deck, you should always pick the deck that is furthest from you? Or, how about If you have a streak of bad cards, you need to settle on a hankerchief to break your horrible luck? It is certainly considered good luck to blow through a pack of cards while they are being mixed up.

A few other fascinating poker folklores are:

  • You might be able to alter the run of cards by passing around your chair three times.
  • The luckiest position at the poker table looks at the door.
  • The worst chair has its back to a fireplace.
  • When changing chairs, you should constantly do so clockwise.
  • The most detrimental poker card is the 4 of clubs.
  • It is most unfortunate to cross your legs when sitting at the poker table.
  • Monday is a awful day for gambling on cards.
  • The thirteenth is also a horrible day, regardless of what day of the week it is.
